Aleece & Torey Engaged { Redding, CA Wedding Photographer }

This could be one of my most favorite engagement sessions and I just noticed it sitting here still as a draft on my blog. This couple is to cute to hide!

Aleece and Torey were married in Shingletown last summer at a garden nursery. It was a beautiful and fun wedding filled with a lot of great details that really showed Aleece and Torey’s personalities. Those pictures are just as cute as these are! Aleece has a great sense of style and the chemistry between the two of them is magical.

It had been funny moving back to Northern California and seeing really how small the community is. Aleece and Torey are from Paradise, I’m from Chico. I quickly realized at the wedding that I knew Torey’s aunt and had grown up with his cousin. Small world!

We did this session up at Old Shasta and then finished up at the tracks. I don’t usually shoot at the tracks as they always make me nervous but Torey loves trains so we braved them for him. I love what we captured and I just adore these pictures and loved every minute of working with Aleece and Torey.

Enjoy!

Crista’s Maternity Portraits | Redding Maternity Photographer

I was excited to photograph Crista’s brand new baby boy last week so I thought it was time to put the maternity pictures on the blog. Crista is one of the owners at Northstate CrossFit and a new friend of ours. It was so fun to watch her and her husband Jonathan’s journey from a couple, to an expecting couple to new parents. They were so excited for this little one’s entrance into the world and I have to say he is a very handsome little guy. I can’t wait to share his newborn pics! Crista is an amazing athlete and was still doing hard core CrossFit work outs the same week that she gave birth! It won’t be long before their little boy is a regular at the gym too!

These were taken at their home in Anderson. I love photographing people in their own environments. It’s part of their story! Someday they can tell their little guy that those pictures of mommy with him in her tummy where taken in the yard of their home. What a special memory! I love the challenge of making anything look amazing so let your creativity and your memories dictate where you do your pictures. You will love the special meaning they hold for you.

Crista, you made a beautiful mother-to-be and are an even more beautiful mommy. I am excited and honored to be apart of your journey into motherhood.

Ethan | Redding Baby Photographer

I had a recent baby session at my in-home studio. This is the third session for this little guy and it is so fun to see how much he has grown every couple of months. He surprised me in that he could crawl really fast even though he just learned to sit up! Most 6 month olds will just be trying to sit up right and it is really easy for me to capture them as they aren’t moving. Not this little guy! As soon as we would set him down he would take off. I had to pull out my trusty little box for some of the pictures just to get him to stay still for me.

I have a little file full of thank you notes from clients throughout the years. I treasure this file and love to look through all the notes every once in awhile. I received an email from Ethan’s mom about this session and it made my day!

“Katie,

WOW!  I am so blown away. You did such an amazing job!  So many great photos.  Of course, I want them all.  So I do want all the digital images with the 16 X 20 print.

Everytime I look through, I almost cry.  You really captured  something for me emotionally.  I absolutely love some of the ones of Ethan and me.  And all the individuals of Ethan… there are so many great ones in almost every outfit.  Plus… Tom… well… we are just super pleased with how these turned out!

Thank you so much!

Rachel”
