Katie and Kurt were a bride and groom of mine last summer. It was so fun to receive the email from Katie and hear that she was expecting. Kurt travels quite a bit so we had to find a time that he was around which meant shooting rather close to Katie’s due date. It can be a little unnerving to do maternity pictures this late in a pregnancy because I have actually had an expecting mom go into labor before we were able to get the pictures. Katie is actually due this week and I can’t wait to do the newborn pictures of the little guy. Isn’t she a beautiful expecting mom?!

11 Years and still going strong!
Yesterday, June 26th, my husband and I celebrated our 11th anniversary. We were married young and even though we still are young our marriage seems to be gaining the years fast:-). Our daughter told us the other day that we were old because we had been married for so long and because she turns 10 this summer. I told her we weren’t old we just started young! I was 19 and he was 21 and we were madly in love and still are. We had been a “thing” on and off all the way through our teen years so when we fell in love we fell in love hard and fast:-) We both come from conservative Christian homes and honoring our commitment to God and to our parents was important to us. So the excitement of our wedding day was four fold as we were getting married, having our first night together, moving in together and taking our first vacation together! We couldn’t have been more happy!
After eleven years, two children with one on the way, 10 moves and 5 states, graduate school for my husband, starting my business and homeschooling our children, we are still very much in love and happy. Making God the center of our marriage has lead to a very strong and stable relationship for us and one that we can honestly say will be till death do us part because we are committed to working through anything together. Both sets of our parents are still married after 30 or so years and we have strong examples to follow. So I am very excited to be celebrating 11 years with the man of my dreams and hope for many, many more to come!
Here are a few pictures of our wedding day. We look like kids in these pictures! These of course are scans of the original prints that were taken on film. I have always loved our wedding pictures but know I look back and think wow these were defiantly before the age where the photographer could check their work in the view finder and correct accordingly. Digital photography really has made a difference in the style and quality of wedding pictures!
Amber & Zach Higgins {I do}
Amber and Zach were married on a stormy Friday afternoon at Red Hawk Golf Resort. They were a joy to work with and so excited about getting married. I did their engagement photos a few weeks ago (which I will post soon!) and we found out we had a funny connection! The ring bearer is Zach’s little brother. Their grandparents live in my neighborhood and he likes to play with my kids when he visits his grandparents! Small world!
Reno has been having thunder storms everyday for the last couple of weeks. Amber and Zach’s wedding day was no exception and everyone was praying that the rain would hold off for the ceremony. They were determined to have it outside and when you see in ceremony site you can see why! It is beautiful! The rain held off and the clouds were beautiful. We even had a little bit of sunshine after the ceremony. The location, the bride, the dress, all the details and even the groom were gorgeous!
Congratulations Zach and Amber!
