Thank you for taking a few moments out of this whirlwind we all call life to peek into my world and the collection of images I have the privilege of calling work.
My name is Katie Watkins and I am a Mother, a Wife, a Daughter, a Child of God's, and a Photographer. My passion is photography and my priorities are my husband, beautiful children, and spending time with those I love. I am so thankful that God has given me a way to enjoy my family, be home for my children, and pursue my love of making things beautiful through the lens of my camera.
My career in photography began in college and continued as I had the opportunity to apprentice and learn the art of wedding photography. Within a few years this led to running my own business and studio where I graduated to indoor newborn and child photography, as well as “natural light and on location” family, senior, and engagement portrait sessions.
I absolutely love living and working in Redding, California. The natural beauty that the foothills, Lake Shasta, Whiskeytown Lake, and the Sacramento River provide is a lush backdrop for the amazing people I have the opportunity to photograph. Having grown up in Chico, California I appreciate the splendor of the Northern California area and have had the opportunity to visit and photograph almost all areas of Northern California as well as Northern Nevada and the Lake Tahoe area.
As a mother I am keenly aware of how quickly time goes by with our children. One day they are little babies and then it seems they have grown up overnight! I love capturing those fleeting moments of my own children, that I want to remember forever, and I would love the opportunity to do that for you as well.
It has been a privilege of mine to move with my clients through the beautiful moments of their lives from engagement and wedding day portraits, to the portraits of their newborn children.

The Great Giveaway – Win a FREE Wedding Package!

As you know, we had a huge change in our family this year with our move to Redding. In the process of doing that I have had to work on completely rebuild my business from the ground up. Since I had taken an extended “maternity leave” with our last daughter, I had really slowed down on the amount of weddings I did each summer so that I could focus on her.

The result of taking a few summers off is that I lost most all of my referral business which kept my business growing and thriving the years before. That wasn’t a big deal to me as I have been enjoying these couple of years with our daughter but then came our move….which lead to a loss of portrait clients as well as Reno is 3 1/2 hours away and clients don’t just pop over the mountains for a family session. I have had a few faithful clients who love me so much they have made the trek for their family pictures which I have really appreciated as we settle in our new home.

So with all these changes, my husband Josh and I have had to dream up new marketing ideas for our new town. This is were the giveaway comes in! I really need new Facebook friends in the Chico / Redding areas so that I can build a new client base here in town. Since I know almost no one here (seriously we have 2 maybe 3 people we could call friends right now!) I have decided a giveaway is in order to make some new Facebook friends that actually live in the Chico or Redding areas. I have some pretty great giveaways to jumpstart my new friend base. There are three giveaways some I am going to list them out individually.

For every hundred people that “like” my business page on Facebook I will give away a FREE Petite Portrait Session that I will draw randomly. The first give away will be at 300 likes, then 400, 500, 600 and so on. I will keep this going until we reach the biggest giveaway! This is worth $150 and includes an 11×14 with the session. Session must take place in the Chico / Redding area (or anywhere in between!).

2. Free Elite Portrait Session at 1,000 Facebook “likes”!

At 1,000 “likes” I will give away a FREE Elite Portrait Session which will include all the files, a proof book and a 3-4 hour session worth $450. This would make an awesome senior session, engagement session or family session. This will be drawn randomly and must take place in the Redding / Chico area.

3. Free Wedding Package at 2,000 Facebook “likes”!

Here’s the big one…. at 2,000 “likes” I will give away a FREE WEDDING PACKAGE that will include up to 8 hours of my time, the digital files and an online gallery. That’s right a free wedding package! This wedding will need to take place in the Redding / Chico areas, take place in 2012 and will be drawn from bridal names entered after we reach the 2,000 mark. This is worth $1800.00 so tell all your friends to come “like” me on Facebook for a chance to win a wedding photographer for their wedding.
